LESSONS & CAROLS

We are delighted to return to beautiful, historic St. Paul’s Point of Rocks to lead a traditional service of Lessons & Carols with repertoire from Hieronymus Praetorius to Poulenc to a premiere by long-time Third Practice friend and favorite Tawnie Olson. Founding director Brian Bartoldus returns to lead this special event.

WORLD PREMIERE
JASMINE BARNES AND J.S. BACH

Celebrated composer and Baltimore native Jasmine Barnes has drawn on the poetry of fellow Baltimorean Frances Ellen Watkins Harper for Songs for the People, a new work, written for Third Practice and inspired by Bach’s Cantata 150 “Nach dir, Herr, verlanget mich.” The two works are performed side-by-side in this exciting series of premiere concerts. Both are written so as to be performable by four voices alone or in collaboration with a larger choir, and we are thrilled to be able to present them in both formats, thanks to our commissioning partners the Bach Choir of Bethlehem and Handel Choir of Baltimore.

Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at 12:10PM - Central Moravian Church, Bethlehem, PA. In collaboration with the Bach Choir of Bethlehem. Free admission.
Sunday, April 14, 2024 at 3:00PM - Westmoreland Congregational United Church of Christ, Bethesda, MD. Free admission.
Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 7:30PM - Second Presbyterian Church, Baltimore. In collaboration with Handel Choir of Baltimore. Additional works by Handel & Monteverdi. Tickets at
